"This Device Is Managed by Your Organization" — What It Means & How to Remove It
Quick answer
On an Android phone, "this device is managed by your organization" means the phone is enrolled in enterprise device management (MDM) and an organization has set policies on it. You can't remove it from Settings and a factory reset won't clear it — the device has to be released from management at the source.
What the message actually means
When a phone is set up for a company, a management app is registered as the device owner. That gives the organization control over policies: it can disable OEM unlocking, restrict apps and settings, and prevent a factory reset from removing the management. The "managed by your organization" notice is simply Android telling you that device-owner management is active.
It's the same enrollment behind related messages you may have seen: the admin lock, an MDM lock, and OEM unlocking greyed out.
Why you can't just remove it
The enrollment is registered against the device, not the user data. So:
- There's no "remove" button in Settings for an end user.
- A factory reset does not clear it — the phone re-enrolls on setup and the message returns.
- "Reset every 24 hours" tricks don't help — the management is still there underneath, just hidden temporarily.
The only permanent removal: a management release
Because the control lives at the management source, the durable fix is to release the device from management there — the same console that enrolled it. Once released, the "managed by your organization" message and every restriction behind it (including greyed-out OEM unlocking) are gone for good, and the phone behaves like a normal consumer device.
Get a decommissioned device released — permanently
For legitimately decommissioned stock (billed and released for decommissioning), we perform that release the correct way: device identity verified over USB, an authorized administrator confirms the release through the management console, and the management is removed permanently — not a bypass, not a timer trick. Single devices and bulk dealer stock.

How do I remove it on Android?
Not from the phone, and not with a factory reset. The device must be released from management at the source. For decommissioned stock, an authorized administrator does that through the management console.
Is this the same as FRP?
No. "Managed by your organization" is enterprise management; Factory Reset Protection (FRP) is a separate Google-account lock. A managed device can have both. A real management release clears the management-based restrictions.
Is removing management legal?
For a device you're authorized to release — such as legitimately decommissioned corporate stock — yes. We may request proof of ownership or authorization, because the service only handles legitimately decommissioned devices.
